in 2011, group of students @ ohio university started poster campaign denouncing use of cultural stereotypes costumes. campaign features people of color alongside respective stereotypes slogans such not , not okay. goal of movement raise awareness around racism during halloween in university , surrounding community, images circulated online.


reclaim bindi has become hashtag used people of south asian descent wear traditional garb. #coachellashutdown has been used in conjunction #reclaimthebindi in order combat use of bindi @ music festivals, notably coachella valley music , arts festival. reclaim bindi week seeks promote cultural significance of bindi , combat use fashion statement.
