counties manukau

aki began playing counties manukau in 2011 season. made 9 appearances side 5 of these coming starts, scoring 3 tries finished fourth in championship division of 2011 itm cup. in 2012 itm cup, aki played 11 of team s 12 games, starting on each occasion , scoring 6 tries. counties manukau finished top of championship division , won play-off games against southland , otago, earned side promotion following year s premiership division.


with counties promoted premiership division, aki played in ten of regular season games in 2013 itm cup, starting 8 of these, team qualified play-offs on return top flight. started in team s play-off semi-final, 41–10 defeat wellington. aki scored 1 try during course of season, score coming against tasman in 20–40 defeat.


2014 aki s final season counties, had been announced earlier in year leaving new zealand join irish side connacht. started ten games counties fifth, 2 points outside playoff places, in 2014 itm cup, did not score points. aki s final appearance counties manukau came in team s 41–18 victory on auckland on 8 october 2014.


chiefs

in september 2012, announced aki had signed reigning super rugby champions chiefs, having been part of side s development set previously. aki came team 2013 super rugby season. played in 13 of side s 18 regular season games, starting 12 of these , scoring 5 tries, chiefs finished top of table. aki featured team in play-offs coming off bench after 48 minutes against crusaders in semi-final, , after 46 minutes in final against brumbies chiefs won second title in row.


aki played ten times chiefs in regular season of 2014 season, starting 7 of these matches , scoring 3 tries. chiefs finished sixth in final standings of league season, final qualifying spot competition s play-off rounds. aki started in chiefs quarter-final game against brumbies, replay of previous year s final. aki scored fourth try of season, finished on losing side brumbies won game 32–30. aki s final game chiefs, had been announced earlier in year moving irish side, connacht.


connacht

aki signed connacht in april 2014 ahead of 2014–15 season. move made him second chiefs player in many years join connacht, following transfer of captain craig clarke previous season. on 25 october 2016, aki signed new contract remain @ connacht until 2020 , became eligible play ireland after completing 3 years of residence in country in october 2017.


international

on 26 october 2017, aki named in extended ireland squad autumn internationals. inclusion came inevitable criticism regarding country of birth. despite this, aki made debut ireland in 38-3 win against south africa @ aviva stadium.
