this road bridge carries ball street on river don. original footbridge @ point destroyed in great sheffield flood of 1864. samuel harrison writes: ball street foot bridge, adjoining mr. mills s tannery, destroyed. although constructed of iron, torn down force of water, , bent though piece of pasteboard. large portion of might seen long afterwards lying in river in sloping position, , not entirely disconnected original position @ 1 end. rebuilt in 1865, 3 cast-iron spans manufactured @ milton iron works in elsecar. features pierced gothic parapets. spans carried on stone piers, , bridge widened in 1900. kelham weir (also known ball street weir) downstream of bridge.
