in 1833, 98 persons coming haute-saône, haute-marne, côte-d or , yonne settled in colony called jicaltepec, in state of veracruz. in 1874, community resettled on other bank of river, in san rafael. 1880 1900 population of colony grew 800 1,000 inhabitants. there around 10,000 french mexicans in state of veracruz.
