in late 2014, spencer co-sponsored resolution colleague, presiding officer duwayne gregory ban sale of powdered caffeine minors in suffolk county. highly potent substance, 100% caffeine, has been linked @ least 2 deaths in united states. after passage of legislation, dr. spencer joined group of advocates meet fda , 5 senators , discuss dangers posed powdered caffeine products. since delegation, fda has taken action against 5 distributors, warning them product labeled hazardous , appropriate measures must taken clarify safe dosage.
