2013–14 season

on 28 june 2013, announced herrera transferred portuguese club porto €8 million. made unofficial debut porto on 13 july in final of valais cup against french team marseille, coming on substitute in 60th minute of game fernando. mexican teammate diego reyes made debut porto in club s 3–0 win. herrera made official league debut on 18 august, substituting lucho gonzález in 82nd minute in porto s 3–1 victory on vitória de setúbal.


on 6 october, herrera played first 90 minutes in porto s 3–1 away win on arouca. on 22 october, herrera set new champions league record fastest dismissal 2 yellow cards when sent off in sixth minute of group stage match against zenit saint petersburg.

on 12 february 2016, herrera, wearing captain s arm-band, scored equalizer in porto s 2–1 win on arch-rivals benfica. herrera called final of taça de portugal against braga on 22 may 2016, playing in 120 minutes of match , failing convert penalty shot in subsequent 3–2 shoot-out defeat.
