the civil parish has total area of 1,754 acres (710 ha). sandstone ridge of peckforton hills runs broadly north–south in west of civil parish, high points @ peckforton point (sj529557; 203 metres) , stanner nab (sj531573; 200 metres). 57.88 hectares area of peckforton woods has been designated site of special scientific interest, , hills have been designated county sites of biological importance woodland , grassland habitats. peckforton hills source of weaver , gowy rivers; weaver flows southwards through parish, while gowy flows northwards.

the a49 forms part of eastern boundary of civil parish. stone house lane runs north–south through parish, peckforton hall lane running eastwards it. sandstone trail long-distance footpath runs along peckforton ridge.
