selection process

in series of steps, show selects eventual winner out of many tens of thousands of contestants.


contestant eligibility

the eligible age-range contestants thirteen twenty-one years old. however, in season one, there no age limit. since season 1 singing competition, groups audition maximum number of 5 members.


auditions

title card used during auditions , promotion of show of season 1.


the mentors tasked roam around country , scour different provinces , cities find bets competition. first level of competition wherein mentors invade assigned audition sites. mentors guide of protégés. groom , contestants stay in competition. mentor s role make or protégé shine. aided 2 audition masters in searching protégés. these 2 audition masters renowned starmaker jojie dingcong , gma artist center head arsi baltazar. in first season, aspiring proteges come 2 sources. first pre-screening done audition masters before regionals proper. second aspirants invited mentors based on research staff conducted. when faced mentors, aspiring proteges hear yes if considered next round or no if not. got yes pooled , mentors choose 3 each take them manila.


in season 2, audition mechanics same except audition sites rose 10 key cities 15. after city auditions, protégé gave hopefuls alternative way audition via online.


face off round

since show shifted singing competition artista search, selection process face off round finals made major changes.


in season 1, after provincial auditions, mentors left 3 protégés each, completing top 30 protégés. considered semi - final round.top 30 protégés competed each other individual acts performs in front of 3 judges. judges tell mentors of 3 should protégé pit against other mentors protégés. thus, in end of face off round, every mentor have 1 protégé each. there ten protégés competing in next round.


in season 2, there 8 shortlisted contestants per mentor overall total of 40 contestants. these 40 aspiring protégés once again faced mentors further judgement. after part, mentors decided final 4 protégés — 2 boys , 2 girls. after decision, 40 aspirants reduced 20 protégés , these 20 revealed during show s first gala night signalling mentors official protégés.


finals

dantes served host entire finals nights 2 seasons.


the protégés season 1 represented audition city while in season 2, 4 protégés represented region.


season 1 broadcast in prime time centerstage, sm mall of asia, pasay city, in front of live studio audience. finals in season 1 lasted ten weeks. ranking of votes being revealed every after 1 finalist done performing. however, final ranking not revealed bottom group. during first weeks, there bottom 4 reduced bottom 3 , bottom 2 finalists. method had been repeatedly done until 3 protégés remain. finale of season 1 occurred @ centerstage in sm mall of asia.


in season 2, gala nights held @ studio 7 of gma network. top twenty protégés reduced top fifteen during second gala night. mentors eliminated 1 protégé each them totaling 5 protégés. based performances of bottom 2 decision of judges during protégés performances previous week. text votes introduced in fourth gala night. finale of season 2 held @ gma network studio 7.


rewards winner , finalists

in season 1, winner, krizza neri received ₱ 1,000,000.00. other cash prize, 2-bedroom condo unit worth ₱ 3,000,000 , five-year management contract gma artist center given. winner, runners-up, received four-year scholarship grant sti college. lovely embuscado received texters’ choice award , skyflakes biggest break award total cash prize of ₱ 150,000.00.


the prizes given winners of second season 2 2-bedroom condo units, ₱ 1,000,000.00 cash prize each winners , management contract gma artist center. 6 remaining finalists received 4-year scholarship sti college in season one. jeric gonzales received texters’ choice award cash prize of ₱ 20,000.00.


the winning mentors prize ₱ 500,000.00 each.
