he established own production company, truelove limited, followed publishing entity, truelove music, in 1991. in 1992 john recruited dave balfe, former manager of teardrop explodes , owner of food records, set new electronic dance label funded , distributed emi. partnership resulted in 2 labels – , synthetic – former dedicated acid house , trance, latter concentrating on more contemporary electronica. notable artists signed , synthetic include sister bliss (later form faithless) delivered first remix, merry trance d: code in 1991, whilst synthetic released goldie s terminator single under , rob playford s metalheads alias in 1992. john s relationship dave balfe ended in 1993 after john released source track sanctuary of love on label. court case followed in balfe tried lay claim ownership sanctuary of love . case resolved in john s favour in 1994.

the truelove label collective began when john established magnetic north label dave clarke in 1994. signing artists such woody mcbride , cristian vogel alongside dave clarke, magnetic north released 14 12 eps , demagnetized compilation album until dave s other dj , recording commitments meant label dissolved in 1994. john set new label, truelove electronic communications (tec) during period. following success of magnetic north , tec, john , business partner steve simmonds began set labels other artists. became truelove label collective, grew encompass 18 different labels @ peak. labels under truelove umbrella included ferox run russ gabriel, boscaland run jon dentist , torema run fumiya tanaka. stay forever label joined truelove label collective in 1995 , spawned own offshoots such cluster, hydraulix , raw, , successful s not intelligent, s not detroit, s fuckin avin it! mix compilation series. when truelove label collective dissolved in 1999, liberator djs adapted truelove template , infrastructure form stay forever collective.
