the regal 3/25 version introduced in october 1962 , unlike previous regals, no longer had wooden frame , instead had unitary construction body of reinforced fibreglass. fibreglass moulded in 2 major units (outer , inner) , bonded , bolted steel chassis. meanwhile, on 25 april 1968, year before bmc celebrated 2,000,000th mini reliant sales director t.h.scott drove 50,000th regal 3/25 off assembly line @ reliant s tamworth plant.

a few months later, in august 1968, 701 cc engine introduced in reliant rebel previous autumn found way regal.

for three-wheeler, compression ratio lowered 7.5:1, reducing power claimed 29.5 bhp rebel s 35 bhp. nevertheless, still represented useful increase on 26 bhp claimed 600 cc unit 701 replaced.
