on 31 october 1920 goldie traveled sydney, on 18 november @ age of 50 married 35-year-old olive ethelwyn cooper, australian birth resident of auckland. did not have children.


goldie s health deteriorated through lead poisoning (from lead white used prepare canvases). in order create finest of detail in paintings, lick end of paint brush ensure finer tip. relatively common practice of day , sadly led decline in health. produced little work in 1920s. encouraged governor-general, lord bledisloe, goldie resumed painting around 1930; in 1934 , 1935 exhibited @ royal academy of arts in london, , in 1935, 1938 , 1939; salon of société des artistes français.


he stopped painting altogether in 1941 , died on 11 july 1947 aged 77.
