Medical vaporizers Vaporizer (inhalation device)

a forced-air vaporizer. detachable balloon (top) fills vapors inhaled.

studies have shown vaporizing cannabis exposes user lower levels of harmful substances smoking cannabis. these findings important estimated 10–20 percent of patients chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, , hiv/aids have admitted smoking cannabis therapeutic purposes.for patients, study found smoking cannabis sativa reduced daily pain 34%, statistically significant amount.

in study published in journal of psychopharmacology in may 2008, stated vaporizers suitable method administration of thc . 2007 study university of california, san francisco, published in journal of american academy of neurology, found there virtually no exposure harmful combustion products using vaporizing device . 2006 study performed researchers @ leiden university found vaporizers safe , effective cannabinoid delivery system(s) . study stated amount of thc delivered vaporizers equivalent amount delivered smoking. because of studies , other studies, vaporizers considered medically sound devices delivering thc.

efficiency

the proposed factors affecting output include:

temperature
specimen density
weight, content of water , essential oils
consistency of material in filling chamber
storage time of vapor
inhalation method (breathing technique)

not have been scientifically tested. research using vaporizers found delivery efficiency highest @ around 226 °c (439 °f), falling half efficiency @ 150 °c (302 °f) 180 °c (356 °f) degrees depending on material. purest preparations produced highest efficiencies, 56% pure thc versus 29% plant material (female flower tops) 12% thca content. besides thc, several other cannabinoids range of other plant components including terpenoids detected in plant material. using pure thc in vaporizer, no degradation products (delta-8-thc (d8-thc), cannabinol (cbn), or unknown compounds) detected hplc analysis. longer vapor stored, more thc lost condenses on surface of vaporizer or balloon. loss may negligible on few minutes may exceed 50% after 90 minutes. leiden university study found as 30–40% of inhaled thc not absorbed lungs exhaled. however, did not find large individual differences in amounts exhaled.
