the scene spongebob , patrick playing game of eels , escalators, parody of snakes , ladders, difficult crew animate, since many shots featured board pieces changing location. according series season 2 dvd commentary, planned have scene had spongebob saying go dolphin noise followed patrick saying dolphin noise too! during eels , escalators game. removed in final episode check because have been inappropriate younger audience. initial decision use dolphin noises in place of traditional bleep influenced concerns on episode s suitability audience. stephen hillenburg recalled in 2016, pitched idea spongebob , patrick learn swearword. said no. couldn t use bleep. used dolphin sound instead.


sailor mouth released on dvd compilation called spongebob squarepants: sea stories on november 5, 2002. included in spongebob squarepants: complete 2nd season dvd released on october 19, 2004. on september 22, 2009, sailor mouth released on spongebob squarepants: first 100 episodes, alongside episodes of seasons 1 through five.
