herringfleet mill octagonal three-storey smock mill boat-shaped cap. winding tailpole , winch, last mill on broads. 4 common sails carried on cast-iron windshaft. wooden brake sheel has 59 teeth. drives 4 feet 6 inches (1.37 m) cast-iron wallower 47 cogs. wallower mounted on 11 ⁄4 inches (300 mm) square upright shaft. @ bottom of upright shaft cast-iron bevel gear 33 teeth drives cast-iron pit wheel 102 cogs. pit wheel carried on cast-iron shaft 8 inches (200 mm) diameter. shaft has @ outer end 16 feet (4.88 m) 9 inches (230 mm) scoopwheel. mill pump 2,000 imperial gallons (9,100 l) of water per minute.
