serbo-croatian vocabulary of mixed origin, words borrowed greek, latin, italian, turkish, hungarian, , more russian, czech , german. loanwords have entered serbian without resistance, while on other hand in croatian, linguistic purism adopted policy during austria-hungary (against presumed germanization) , later in yugoslavia (against presumed serbian domination). in croatia, term serbisms used characteristically serbian words, unwanted during world war ii , yugoslav wars, many of have been replaced neologisms.
