jesus college boat club (commonly abbreviated jcbc) rowing club members of college. club formed in 1835, rowing @ college predates foundation of club: boat college involved in earliest recorded races between college crews @ oxford in 1815, when competed against crew brasenose college. these may have been 2 colleges had boats racing @ time, , brasenose boat victorious. neither men s nor women s 1st viiis have been head of river during eights week, main college races, women s 1st viii head of river in spring races, torpids, between 1980 , 1983. jesus boats have had other successful seasons: 1896 jesus college boat had reputation of being 1 of faster boats in university, , women s 1st viii of 1993 won blades in first divisions of both torpids , eights week, achievement led crew being described in jesus college record vying not college team of decade, perhaps team of last 3 decades , in sport.
