47,xyy not inherited, occurs random event during formation of sperm cells. incident in chromosome separation during anaphase ii (of meiosis ii) called nondisjunction can result in sperm cells copy of y-chromosome. if 1 of these atypical sperm cells contributes genetic makeup of child, child have y-chromosome in each of body s cells. in cases, addition of y-chromosome results nondisjunction during cell division during post-zygotic mitosis in embryonic development. can produce 46,xy/47,xyy mosaics.
