greenwood born in scarborough, toronto , age wanted performer; time in high school @ agincourt collegiate institute, star of school plays , concerts. when came time graduate in 1980, feared never act again, until concerned friend gave brochure american academy of dramatic arts, greenwood spent next 2 years studying acting.


in 1987, when returned canada, in toronto managed find work small night club act called wedge of night, led five-year stint toronto branch of famous second city comedy troupe; served both writer , performer - 2 of shows won dora mavor moore awards in 1988, , 1992. shortly afterwards, , friends jonathan wilson , ed sahely developed called second city spin-off, not repeated, in 3 improvise entire situation comedy in front of live audience, based solely on ideas , suggestions thrown @ them audience. other notable appearances in canada include popular sketch shows hour has 22 minutes , royal canadian air farce.
