long tomica

lengthier buses , semi-trailer trucks models not suitable regular small boxes, tomy started long tomica series in 1977. castings such trucks, double-decker buses or shinkansen trains produced single models until 1993. however, of these long models can still found in gift sets, such jal airport vehicles set. many of these foreign markets, trathen s skyliner bus made plymouth london trek in u.k. combat tomica

earlier, tomy produced 1/87 diecast combat tomica series. line started model m-60 u.s. army medium tank, , later on, models such u.s. m-60a-1e-1, german tiger-i, japanese type 61 , russian su-85 produced. there 2 types of combat tomica both contained same models. first 1 regular tomica models; models came in paper box, there soldier figures decoration , set of wheels because tracks fixed , did not function. second type metal model kits required manual assembly. these came in larger boxes inside containing parts assembly. production of combat tomicas lasted few years, tomy continued producing military vehicles such rocket launcher trucks, troop trucks, , jeeps, regular 3-inch line-up.

tomica dandy

tomica dandy cars larger - 1:43 scale , produced 1972 until 1993. @ first japanese domestic models, similar common tomicas, dandy line began offer foreign brand vehicles in 1977 (for example, lotus europa). numbering system changed in 1984 based on nature of vehicles (e.g. emergency, police, or foreign models). in 2001, tomy reissued 6 tomica dandy models in limited quantities.

dandys diecast metal , had metal bases. wheels looked authentic, hard black plastic , not rubber, normal 1:43 diecast cars in 1980s. dandy cars had special features mazda savanna pop-up headlights operated lever inside car (gardiner , o neill 1996, 77). packaging colors varied , promotional models, commonly, boxes blue or red showing perforated license plate shape dandy written on plate. tomica dandy castings have been used in gift sets , limited s series, these models have dandy name on base plates removed.

motorized tomica

tomy started producing motorized cars in 1980s beginning power tomica series. series did not last long. in 1992, released new series called b/o tomica (stands battery-operated tomica). produced , sold single models until 2003. b/o tomica made in japan, while motor tomica (including animated motor tomica) made in china. fit on motorized base, these castings have altered scales. in general, sport utility vehicles appear in proper scales, saloons appear bit bulky, , buses , lorries disproportionately short. in 2005, new series motorized tomica released containing generic vehicles such police patrol car. late series targets toddlers , made of abs plastic.

these first appeared in 1980s , there 6 models @ time. in year 2002, tomy again produced pullback models

tomica limited vintage

starting 2004, tomytec, branch of tomy, started producing realistic models - more collector market. marketed tomica limited vintage tomytec series , 1950s , 1960s classic japanese vehicles such honda s800, nissan cedric, prince gloria , toyopet crown. more details evident on these compared regular tomica models or tomica limited models.

in 2006 tomica limited vintage - neo [tlv-n] line created , includes vehicles 1970s , 1980s. limited vintage series, focus of limited vintage - neo series on adult collectors. these models have high level of realism, more attention details such wheels, tires, paint, trim , emblems versus functions opening parts or moving features still has suspension of basic tomica models. models consistent scale of 1/64 (tomica fan club).

the tomica limited vintage neo line focuses on cars manufactured in late 1970s , onwards, movie , tv drama vehicles , special race cars have been introduced.

in 2013, tlv-n line started featuring vehicles tv asahi s known police drama series seibu keisatsu. models released lineup either cars prominently featured in show, or vehicles end getting destroyed during course of show. future releases lineup include 1/64 replica of tu-89 ladybird; armored military vehicle first bad guy vehicle daimon force faced (in first episode of show). models lineup licensed nissan ishihara promotion.

in 1970s, tomica had special line of models figures of characters cartoon snoopy sitting on or in vehicles. tomica later produced models disney characters on them , started utterly new series called putica these disney characters. circa 1990s, when tomy created cartoon called tomica rescue , started series using regular tomica models , matchbox models add-ons such cannons, armors , water hoses. in 1996, series specially designed japanese comic or cartoon bakuso kyodai let s & go !! (爆走兄弟レッツ&ゴー) initiated. came mach go go go ( マッハＧｏＧｏＧｏ , localized speed racer in west) series in 1998. in 2002 series called magnum rescue launched, , designed today s hyper rescue , hyper blue police. unfortunately, due safety issues, magnum rescue police cruiser recalled after release.

in 2005, celebrate 60th anniversary of renowned thomas , friends, tomy started thomas tank engine series. other recent specialized character tomica series include hyper rescue , hyper blue police , cars (disney/pixar animation) series, pokémon, ridge racer, , disney motors series.
