geography
dulag covers 11,007 hectares in land area in eastern side of leyte island fronting gulf of leyte. terrain characterized flat sloping land rolling terrain in western section.
from tacloban city, 1 can reach dulag land traversing 36 kilometres (22 mi) route via maharlika highway. travel time takes three-quarter minutes full 1 hour.
leyte gulf washes western shores in dulag. town bounded 12 kilometers north municipality of tolosa; west, 7 kilometers lies municipality of julita; , 7 kilometers south municipality of mayorga.
climate
the prevailing climate type similar in eastern coastal towns of province. climate type 2 in category wherein there no definite dry or wet season throughout. rainfall more or less evenly distributed throughout year. maximum rainfall november january. during weather disturbances (typhoon) barangays flooded. these barangays found along daang maharlika, along daguitan river, , within poblacion. among these barangays barbo, alegre, fatima, salvacion; districts of combis, market site , cambula, , elementary school therewith, though there no definite pattern of occurrence.
water resources
being foremost basic need of man, absence of clean , sanitary pipe water system throughout locality big problem. water sources came tube pumps, dug wells, aside few places faucet potable water system.
per 2006 barangay profile survey on sources of potable water supply, following result revealed out of total number of households, 513 or 5.98% dependent on owned-use faucet system of potable water, households water supply faucet inside house/yard directly connected water pipeline own water system (electric pump).
there 2,299 households or 26.80% take drinking water tube/pipe (jetmatic/pitcher pump) private use of household, 637 household or 11.87 takes water deep of household or establishment or deep constructed public use.
some important uses water taking shower, taking bath, washing hands, brushing teeth , washing dishes. other use water flush , clean toilet, wash vehicles, , water plants.
out of 8,580 households, 58.93% or 5,057 household got water own jetmatic/pitcher pump laundry and/or bathing. other sources recipient of community water system (2.03%), owned electric pumps (5.07%), shared electric water pump (1.94%), shared jetmatic/pitcher pump neighbor (14.56%), dug (14.56%) , water peddlers (2.91%).
barangays
dulag politically subdivided 45 barangays. in 1957, sitio of inawangan converted barrio kamitok. in same year, mat-i renamed president roxas, cogon-bingkay renamed salvacion, , sitio pamoblaran converted barrio san antonio.
