in 1909, 3 local children lost in underground limestone caverns underneath town of newton. entrance these caves (now sealed) located in woods near cemetery. currently, marker bearing names of these 3 children, james w., margaret, , j. howard lewis, mounted in face of rock-outcropping approximately fifty-yards woods on cemetery property. magazine weird nj recounts daughter, margaret found way cave , got lost. 2 brothers went find , got lost.
