uss sealion ii, ship made career


after sealion scuttled reich served on staff of submarine commander @ corregidor , bataan in philippines, escaping aboard stingray (ss-186) before surrender of u.s. forces there in spring of 1942. executive officer aboard lapon (ss-260) in 1943, in march 1944 assumed command of second sealion (ss-315).


under reich s command, sealion ii credited sinking japanese battleship kongō, japanese battleship sunk submarine during world war ii, destroyer urakaze, , prisoner of war ship, rayuko maru. after sinking pow ship, sealion ii surfaced , rescued 23 australian , 31 british prisoners of war sea.[1]
