he youngest son of king stefan uroš , wife, helen of anjou. unexpectedly became king of serbia after abdication of brother stefan dragutin. around 29. upon accession throne attacked byzantine lands in macedonia. in 1282, conquered northern parts of macedonia including city of skoplje, became capital. byzantine emperor michael viii palaiologos began preparations war died before completion. next year milutin advanced brother deep byzantine territory way kavala.


in 1284, milutin gained control of northern albania , city of dyrrachion (durrës). next 15 years there no changes in war. peace concluded in 1299 when milutin kept conquered lands dowry of simonis, daughter of emperor andronikos ii palaiologos became 4th wife. in nerodimlje župa milutin had 3 courts, in nerodimlje (protected petrič), svrčin , pauni.
