2008 summer olympics games

edgar crespo participated in first summer olympics games in 2008 held in beijing, china. qualified @ 19 years old wild card. after qualification problems , controversies, crespo attended games , competed in 100 m breaststroke. participated in 3rd heat, won (second panamanian accomplish achievement), sadly time not fast enough qualify next round (semi-finals). placed 53rd overall.


2012 summer olympic games

at 24 years old, edgar crespo represented panama in second summer olympics games, held in london, england. in last olympics, crespo experienced qualifying problems. during world swimming championships 2011 held in shanghai, china, crespo achieved b standard time in 100 m breaststroke. during indy grand prix swimming competition held in indianapolis, united states, crespo got b standarad time in 200 m breaststroke. despite this, qualify olympics athletes required obtain standard times. approaching starting date of 2012 summer olympic games, international swimming federation (fina) did not send invitations panama since panamanian federation swimming (fpn) decided not use wild card allowed 2 athletes per country: male , female, compete regardless if achieved or did not achieve standard times. panamanian federation preferred go b standard invitation. news became sport controversy in panama because other countries had athletes b standard times , countries secured participation in games wild card. after several weeks of waiting , 2 weeks before start of games in london, panama olympic committee (cop) received wild card crespo compete in 100 m breaststroke. edgar crespo competed in london 2012 in 4th heat of 100 m breaststroke. placed 35th in overall ranking.


2016 summer olympic games

for third time in row, @ 27, edgar crespo represents panama in summer olympic games, time in rio de janeiro, brazil. crespo achieved b-cut (invitational) of 100 meters breaststroke @ stockholm swim open, competition held in sweden in march 2016. b-cut kept crespo in world ranking invited international swimming federation (fina) , qualify rio 2016.


on august 6, edgar crespo competed 100 meters chest in 2nd series remaining in 41st position.
