the mrc governed 4 member countries through joint committee , council. members of joint committee senior civil servants heading government departments. there 1 member each country. joint committee meets 2 3 times year approve budgets , strategic plans. members of council cabinet ministers. council meets once year.
technical , administrative support provided mrc secretariat. secretariat based in vientiane, lao p.d.r, on 120 staff including scientists, administrators , technical staff. chief executive officer manages secretariat.
in april 2010, mekong river commission convened summit in hua hin, thailand. 6 riparian nations in attendance, including china, burma (myanmar), laos, thailand, cambodia, , vietnam.
