rake

a rake architectural term eave or cornice runs along gable end of roof of modern residential structure. may called sloping cornice, raking cornice. trim , rafters @ edge called rake-, verge-, or barge-board or verge- or barge-rafter. sloped timber on outside facing edge of roof running between ridge , eave. on typical house, gable have 2 rakes, 1 on each sloped side. rakes supported series of lookouts (sometimes called strong arms) , may enclosed rake fascia board on outside facing edge , rake soffit along bottom.
