the organization has played important role in major legal cases. in 2003, Økokrim arrested mullah krekar, alleged leader of kurdish islamist group, ansar al-islam.


2002

after jon lech johansen released decss, taken court Økokrim. trial opened in oslo district court on 9 december 2002 johansen pleading not guilty , defense, electronic frontier foundation argued no illegal access obtained else s information, since johansen owned dvds himself. argued legal under norwegian law make copies of such data personal use. verdict announced on 7 january 2003, acquitting johansen of charges.


2003

Økokrim filed appeal on 20 january 2003 johansen verdict , on 28 february borgarting court of appeal had agreed hear case. johansen s second decss trial began on 2 december 2003, , resulted in acquittal on 22 december 2003. Økokrim did make further appeal of case supreme court.


2006

in 2006, Økokrim filed indictments filed against 4 members of 5 percent community breach of trust fraudulent intent. main individuals responsible, including henrik ellefsen , jørn ronnie tagge, convicted on charges of fraud in december 2007.


2011

in 2011 agency investigated 28 cases. 28 persons convicted, , conviction rate 86%.


2012

the agency s desired conviction rate 90%.


2016

on 8 march 2016, Økokrim seized popcorn-time.no domain name. site did not host popcorn time application instead had articles , links sites offered application.
