the church s portal


the church s façade built out of local sandstone. lower part of façade has late gothic–romanesque marble portal main entrance. capitals contain representations of bear , caryatid. lunette decorated sculptures of madonna , archangel gabriel, these stolen in 20th century. date a.d. mccccxxviii (1428) , coat of arms of amatrice can found on portal s architrave.


the upper part of façade, has been destroyed in 2016 earthquake, modified according renaissance principles. had rectangular window, replaced rose window in 1930s. plaque old coat of arms of church , latin inscription commemorating building s architect found on right hand side of façade, below rose window. pair of large oblong windows can found on each side of church. bell tower , medieval porta carbonara stood rear of church.


the church s interior dated 18th century, , has few elements of note. following frescoes found on left side:



l annunciazione (the annunciation) – dated 1491, work of carlo crivelli alternatively attributed dionisio cappelli (it)
madonna in trono con il bambino (enthroned madonna , child) – dated 1497. painted on earlier fresco, parts of still visible.
madonna del rosario (our lady of rosary) – dated later previous 2 frescoes

a set of bas-relief terracotta stations of cross found on right hand side of church.
