western australia s first rugby league team play in national competition western reds, played in 1995 , 1996 seasons of australian rugby league. in 1997 changed name perth reds , joined super league inaugural members.


despite showing promise (particularly in underage competitions) reds not invited join national rugby league in 1998 part of agreement end super league war.


in 2006 western australia rugby league resurrected team wa reds compete in jim beam cup 2008, view entering national rugby league competition in 2012. home ground perth oval.
