on december 18, 2012, toronto blue jays announced ortiz had been signed minor league contract invitation major league spring training. on april 15, blue jays selected contract buffalo bisons. ortiz designated assignment on april 23 make room aaron laffey on roster. ortiz cleared waivers, , returned buffalo bisons on april 25. ortiz brought blue jays on may 9. ortiz got first win since 2011 in start on may 15, 2013, against san francisco giants. start ortiz s first start of 7 innings or more since 2007 season. ortiz designated assignment blue jays on may 28. cleared waivers , assigned buffalo bisons on may 31.
