the flammarion engraving appeared in c. g. jung s flying saucers: modern myth of things seen in skies (1959). first color version published made roberta weir , distributed berkeley s print mint in 1970. color image spawned of modern variations have followed since. donovan s 1973 lp, cosmic wheels, used extended black , white version on inner sleeve (an artist added elements extending image fit proportions of record jacket). image appeared in compleat astrologer (pg. 25) derek , julia parker in 1971.


the flammarion engraving appeared on cover of daniel j. boorstin s bestselling history of science discoverers, published in 1983. other books devoted science used illustration include mathematical experience (1981) philip j. davis , reuben hersh, matter, space, , motion: theories in antiquity , sequel (1988) richard sorabji, paradoxes of free (2002) gunther stent, , uncentering earth: copernicus , on revolutions of heavenly spheres (2006) william t. vollmann. books devoted mysticism have used engraving include love , law (2001) ernest holmes, gnosticism: new light on ancient tradition of inner knowing (2002) stephan a. hoeller, , practical astrology (2008) priscilla costello.
