this carries a61 dual carriageway across river don. part of a61, fronts football ground, widened in time 1966 world cup matches , still features flagpoles event.

there 2 (private) bridges connect cadbury s works on either side of don. however, there (public) footpath along northern bank of don (this form part of planned upper don walk) goes under 2 bridges. cadbury s (previously bassett s) works 1 of major employers in area. george bassett & co. ltd sweet factory 1 of longest serving of local firms, made world-famous manufacture of liquorice allsorts. firm established in sheffield in 1842 did not come hillsborough (owlerton) until 1934 when bassett s son-in-law samuel meggit johnson built large factory on beulah road (on south side of don). factory enlarged in inter-war period new products such jelly babies, wine gums , liquorice novelties added range.

in 1989 bassetts purchased cadbury schweppes group , became part of confectionery subsidiary cadbury trebor bassett. in 2010, cadbury s taken on kraft.


wardsend bridge

this bridge in hillsborough carries livesey street on don club mill road. previous bridge two-arched stone bridge, built in 18th century provide access wardsend cemetery, , destroyed floods on 25 june 2007. rebuilt 31.2-foot-wide (9.5 m) single-span integral bridge @ estimated cost of £673,000 , re-opened in 2009.
