he associated mahatma gandhi in indian independence movement. stayed time @ gandhi s sabarmati ashram in cottage named after him, vinoba kutir . in 1932 sent jail british colonial government because of activism against british rule. there gave series of talks on gita, in native language marathi, fellow prisoners.
these highly inspiring talks later published book talks on gita , , has been translated many languages both in india , elsewhere. vinoba felt source of these talks above , believed influence endure if other works forgotten.
in 1940 chosen gandhi first individual satyagrahi (an individual standing truth instead of collective action) against british rule. said gandhi envied , respected bhave s celibacy, vow made in adolescence, in fitting belief in brahmacharya principle. bhave participated in quit india movement.
