station lane bridge carries unclassified road oughtibridge grenoside on river don. station referred “oughty bridge station” (east of road bridge) on former great central railway company s sheffield manchester route. opened in 1845 , closed passengers in 1959. of upper don, river @ oughtibridge appears benign, having small flow , being fordable below weir south of bridge. however, discussed in flooding section above, wide catchment area , sometimes-extreme weather in pennines makes river susceptible occasional flooding. 2 photographs illustrate contrast.
