line d second line built hispanic-argentine company public works , finances (chadopyf), following construction of line c in 1934. construction began in 1935 , first part of line inaugurated in 1937 , ran 1.7 km catedral (still current terminus) tribunales. 3 years later, section brought line plaza italia in palermo completed, bringing length of line 6.5 km.


the line not extended until 1993 when extended ministro caranza, station named after radical politician. further extensions occurred in 1990s, beginning in 1997 aperture of olleros , josé hernández, juramento in 1999, , congreso de tucumán in 2000, terminates.


over decades has been discussed numerous times whether extend line out limits of city proper. last of these proposals came forward in 2002 have seen additional 2 stations added line. however, later abandoned since line @ full capacity after opening of congreso de tucumán station. in june 2015 metrobus cabildo line opened, connecting line d terminus @ congreso de tucumán vicente lópez district in greater buenos aires, kilometres away city limits, making extension of line d redundant. line d line in network not extended part of recent expansion plan.


until privatisation of underground in 1990s, line d identified red colour; whilst line b used green.
