the thai highway network spans on 70,000 kilometers across regions of thailand. these highways, however, dual carriageways frequent u-turn lanes , intersections slowing down traffic. coupled increase in number of vehicles , demand limited-access motorways, thai government issued cabinet resolution in 1997 detailing motorway construction master plan. upgraded sections of highway being turned motorways , while other motorways being purpose-built.
