dumaguete has land area of 3,362 hectares (8,310 acres), situated on plains of southeastern coast of large island of negros, near mouth of banica river. of province s 19 municipalities/towns , 6 cities, dumaguete smallest in terms of land area. bounded on north town of sibulan, on south town of bacong , on west town of valencia.


as coastal city, bounded on east bohol sea , tañon strait, serving natural border of southeastern negros island region neighboring central visayas. city s topography flat 2 6 kilometers shoreline. slopes gently upwards adjoining municipality of valencia. highest ground elevation located @ boundary of municipality of valencia, 1 hundred meters above mean sea level. 93% of land have slopes of less 3%. remaining areas have 3% 5% slope.


climate

dumaguete has 2 seasons, namely; dry , wet seasons. wet season covers period june november, , dry season starts december may, hottest being april , may. average maximum temperature 34.3 °c , average minimum temperature 22.9 °c past years. relative humidity of locality past years 78¾% month of december registering highest.



barangays

dumaguete politically subdivided 30 barangays, classified urban. 8 barangays in city s downtown area known number. smallest barangay barangay 4 area of 5.11 hectares, while biggest barangay barangay banilad 362.71 hectares.
