chichele college founded henry chichele, archbishop of canterbury, in 1422 college secular canons. college had provision 8 priests, 4 clerks, 6 choristers , song , grammar master. in later times college became inn, , later farm. ruins survive today, save 1 hall used artistic exhibitions.

the bede house
about year 1422, when planning college @ higham ferrers, archbishop henry chichele founded in place adjoining vicarage , churchyard , bede house or hospital dwelling place 12 men on 50 years old live in close company , 1 woman after them. consisted of common open hall. each man had little cubicle locker, divided off screen fellows, , rest of hall formed common room fine open fireplace, relic of older times. on south, sheltered garden added taking part of land of vicarage.
