formation

gary larsen became acquainted online wells, hefner, , keyboardist andrew poe, of whom @ time members of band oh juliet based in lafayette, louisiana. after group s dissolution in 2010, wells invited larsen move lafayette work on new musical project. duo joined wells ex-bandmates poe , hefner, , guitarist steve billeaud. band completed addition of baton rouge native patterson.


act naturally (2010–2012)

the duo s initial music folk-driven, shifted more electronic-based full band sound more , more members added. royal teeth recorded 5-track debut extended play act naturally in charleston, south carolina producer eric bass , released july 2011. upon signing dangerbird records in april 2012, act naturally re-released on may 8, 2012 ep features song wild along cover of knife s single heartbeats .


after release of act naturally, band went on tour nationally, performing @ festivals including cmj, acl, snowglobe, summerfest, sxsw 2012 alongside bands such kooks, fitz , tantrums, , walk moon.

glow (2013–present)

in february 2013, royal teeth travelled toronto begin recording debut full-length studio album glow gavin brown (metric). on march 25, 2013, band appeared on last call carson daly performing wild . royal teeth released glow, on august 13, 2013 via dangerbird records. 2013 included performances @ boston calling, sxsw, cmj, jazzfest, voodoo music experience , tours mowglis, american authors, said whale, , rocket summer.


after glow s release, poe , billeaud left band, joined ex-oh juliet member, guitarist thomas onebane.


on march 20, 2014, royal teeth made guest appearance on season 13 of american idol, performing wild . touring behind debut lp, band played marquee festivals such new orleans jazz & heritage festival, bonnaroo, firefly, bunbury, summerfest, voodoo music experience , sxsw.


wild has been featured several times in commercials, ads, , tv, including launches of samsung galaxy s5, , buick verano, state farm, bose, american eagle, metro ag, voice, 90210, espn, tlc, pbs, yahoo & fox. wild featured on popular soccer video game ea sports fifa13, soundtrack , movie g.b.f.


april 21, 2015, royal teeth announced had signed elektra records. band working on major label debut, released in 2016.


april 11, 2016, reported band , elektra records had parted ways .
