upper st. clair high school competes in piaa s district 7, commonly referred wpial. wpial-affiliated sports @ uschs include baseball, basketball, cross country, field hockey, football, golf, lacrosse, rifle, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, , wrestling. non-wpial sports include cheerleading, crew, fencing, , ice hockey. club teams called upper st. clair panthers, mascot being black panther.
athletic facilities @ uschs include 2 gyms, indoor swimming pool, football stadium, , track.
the 1989 football team won wpial quad championship , pa quad state championship, finished 15–0 record , no. 4 final ranking in usa today super 25 national rankings.
the 2004 soccer team won piaa state championship second year running, finishing undefeated 27 – 0 record, , ranked #1 nationally ncsaa.
the 2006 football team won wpial quad championship , pa quad state championship, finishing undefeated 16 – 0 record, , ranked in top-ten nationally, in several polls.
upper st. clair high school maintains heated rivalry mount lebanon high school, right down street.

music
the uschs music program has 3 components: (1) choral courses, (2) instrumental courses, , (3) extra-curricular activities. focus of courses on performance rather music theory or history.
choral courses include men s ensemble, women s choir, clarion choir , pantheon choir, , can elective or selective. extra-curricular vocal ensembles may include chanteclairs, show or jazz choir, triple trio , barbershop groups, depending on student interest. instrumental courses offerings include string , full orchestra, concert band, , jazz band.
the 2 popular student activities sponsored uschs marching band , spring musical. panther marching band holds two-week training program during summer students prepare football half-time performances , festivals. in addition, rehearses after school during first 9 weeks of school year. band makes @ least 1 trip each spring perform @ major festival.
each march, uschs students perform broadway musical. musical community event, involving 30–40 student managers, 250 students in cast , supporting crew roles, adult staff of 40 musical specialists, , group of 100 adult volunteers called theatre angels. students participate in wide variety of capacities, including directing, acting, dancing, costume design, set construction, lighting, publicity, , playing in pit orchestra. recent musicals performed 42nd street (2009), brigadoon (2010), music man (2011), , south pacific (2012).
arts
the st. clarion school s student newspaper. produces 4 issues annually senior magazine issue. paper made during both journalism classes , student volunteers. paper writes on both world , campus news, detailing many events sports school policy changes. paper funded community advertisers student fund-raising.
the montage school s literary arts magazine produced student body. montage produces 1 issue per year, selling copies student body in may. magazine publishes original poems, short stories, personal essays, artwork, photography, , musical compositions written students. staff of 15–20 people compiles submissions magazine. st. clarion, montage funded both community advertisers , student fund-raising.
the upper st. clair theater, renovated in 1999, hosts fall play , spring musical every year, students filling of cast , crew roles. managed aramark.
academic teams
the uschs forensics team competes in national forensics league, national catholic forensics league (ncfl), , pennsylvania high school speech league (phssl). uschs qualified 39 competitors postseason tournaments in 2012, all-time high. team has produced 7 phssl state champions.
also, school participates in hometown high-q, jeopardy-style quiz bowl game hosted pittsburgh s kdka television station. team won third place throughout pittsburgh s eighty-six teams in 2007. also, academic worldquest team came third out of fifty-three teams in spring 2009, after having won previous 2 years.
